Tenants win £260,000 of rent after legal fight with billionaire landlord
A tribunal has awarded £263,555.68 in rent repayments to 46 tenants from Olympic House and Simpson House in Hackney. The tenants took companies owned by John Christodoulou to court for operating unlicensed Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs). Judge Robert Latham described Christodoulou as a “rogue landlord” during the March hearing. The ruling is part of a rent repayment order, and Christodoulou’s company, Yianis Group, has been contacted for comment.
