Green politician wants to ban all evictions during winter
Green Party MSP Maggie Chapman has proposed an amendment to the Housing (Scotland) Bill to permanently ban private rental evictions during winter, from November to March. This follows temporary protections introduced in 2022, which faced opposition from landlords and investors. Chapman argues that winter evictions are particularly stressful for tenants and exacerbate Scotland’s housing crisis. She emphasizes the need for permanent measures to ensure stability and support for renters during the coldest months.
