Agent celebrates 200 NHS workers benefitting from discount scheme

Philip Norgan, a lettings agent in Cornwall, has welcomed the 200th tenant through his scheme offering discounted rents to NHS workers. Launched in 2021, the initiative encourages landlords to rent exclusively to NHS staff, who often face challenges finding affordable housing. In return for reduced fees, landlords provide lower rents.

This scheme, now part of Smart Estate Agent, has attracted 51 NHS landlords, with many more showing interest. Healthcare assistant Chinedu Nwoye became the 200th tenant, moving into a new rental after his previous home was sold. A spokesperson from the Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust acknowledged the difficulty NHS staff face in securing suitable accommodation and praised efforts to assist them.
